maths mate term 2 sheet 8, 2014

Predict: I predict that I will have to use subtraction.

Read: A single digit number belongs in each circle, and it must equal the difference between the two numbers it sits on. What number belongs in the shaded circle?

Clarify: nothing to clarify:

The big question: what number belongs in the shaded circle?

Mathematical toolbox: guess check and improve and have I seen a similar problem.

Solve: around the shaded circle there is a 2 and I worked out that above that is a 5, nest I needed to find out was 2 – x = and I figured out that x (algebra) = 7.

Summery: you have to read the question carefully to find out what this question means.

Maths mate sheet 7 question 23 2014

Predict: I predict that I will have to use addition.

Read: Jack’s car can travel 15 kilolitres per litre of petrol. He leaves Dubbo with 30 litres of petrol in his car and drives toward Maitland, which town will he be closest to when he runs out of petriol?

Clarify: nothing to clarify.

The big question: which town will he be closest to when he runs out of petrol?

Mathematical toolbox: have I seen a similar problem.

Solve: first I thought to myself that I had to multiply 15 and 30 so I did that and my answer was 450. After I had to add 200, 150 and 100 because those were kilometres between each town, and the answer for that was 450 as well and then 450 – 450 = 0 and he lands at Singleton.

Answer: he arrives at Singleton when he runs out of petrol.

Packaging is necessary because we won’t know the brands we won’t know what we are buying and we won’t know what it looks like it may not look appealing if the customer buys it.

Paper is the most environmentally friendly  because it is biodegradable, reusable and recyclable.

Polystyrene is the least environmentally friendly because it is made from toxic chemicals and is hard to dispose.

maths mate term 2 sheet 1

Read: fill in the missing digits in the sum.

Predict: I predict that I will have to find the missing sums.

Clarify: I have nothing to clarify.

Mathematical toolbox: have I seen a simular problem?

Big question: what are the missing digit?

Solve: the sum looks like this:

3
  8
 6 5

First I said to myself 8+? = 15 and I thought that it was 7. Carry the 1.

Next 3+ ? = 6 and because you carried the 1 before it is 2 so now the sum looks like this:

31 7
2 8
6 5

So the answer was 37 + 28 = 65.

maths mate sheet 5 Question 23

Read: Bobby’s car uses 9 litres of fuel per 100km. how many litres  of fuel are required to travel from Kogan to Tingura?

Predict: I think that this will be about division.

Clarify:  Nothing to clarify.

Big question: How many litters will Bobby’s car use?

Mathematical Toolbox: guess check and improve.

Solve: First I added 64+122+154+60=340 there are 3 100 so there is 27 litres there but with the additional 40 I guess that there would be 3 extra litres.

maths mate sheet 6 Question 23

Predict:  predict that I will have to work out how many rolls of die it will take.

Clarify:  nothing to clarify.

The big question: how many rolls will it take?

Mathematical toolbox: have I seen a similar problem and guess check and improve.

Solve: there is F and S and 19 numbers in-between on the first roll she lands on 6 and goes up a ladder, another roll and she went down a snake now she has 2 more rolls and makes it past the finish line.

some schools in the UK have set school to start at 1:30pm.

Going home at 7:00pm when it gets dark your body sends out a chemical called melatonin. It would make it easier to learn if you start school later.

But it will be harder to get picked up and dropped off.  You wont be able to do sport because it would be too late. You also wont be able to do homework because it would be too late.

Toads are killing Australia’s native animals: goanna’s. they fit them with radio tracking collar .they  brought in from south America to eat sugar beetles and because they don’t have predators they have spread so fast.

They are training them not eat toads by giving them a small amount they don’t like it so the never to eat it again. Scientist have proved this tact-tic works.

YES! We found it thank you guys so much, but now the I found the gateway I must eliminate you! A gasp went through the crowed, how could you do this to us, I mean after all the cold we went through, all the running we did for you we protected each other,  but last, i… I thought you were my friend. A black shadow loomed over his face he couldn’t believe what I had just said. The words went through him like a black knife striking him beyond repair.  Stumbling back he walked off. What have I done? NOOOOOO!
